Technical purpose of product or process premixes Cenuprem C
General comment on data set 1 t premixes The Buzzi Unicem group annually feeds the EPD process with primary data relating to the manufacture of each product; any primary data of external origin are instead subject to validation by the Ecology, Environment and Safety Department of the Buzzi Unicem group. Finally, third-party verification certifies the overall reliability of the EPD process. If allocation cannot be avoided, it is handled in accordance with the relevant ISO standards (14040, 14044), in which case mass allocation is adopted. The auxiliary energy consumption is split between clinker and cement to the extent of 66% and 34%: the criterion is to be considered representative for the two processes. In accordance with regulatory standards, the cut-off criterion is set at 1% of mass and energy flows. Packaging transport and lubricating oils and greases for plant maintenance fall into the 1%.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
